Being wholly passionate about what I do enables me to become totally
absorbed in the entire process, from idea through to execution.
I experience this passion, both in my teaching, and in my work as
a professional textile artist. I hope it is conveyed to my students
and in my finished works. I work from a number of different sources
and themes, often presented by challenging exhibitions. A recurring
theme is music and dance, which offers vivid and dynamic starting
points for exploring pattern, colour and movement. I draw much of
my inspiration from the teams with which I dance and play.
I love being involved in the entire process of designing and drawing
and changing the surface of fabrics through dyeing, colouring, printing
and stitching. I find the drawn mark becomes increasingly more important
in my work. I hope my work will continually evolve, be enjoyed by
a wide audience, as well as being displayed in public spaces and
in people's homes.
