The Eleventh Child and The Last Child

These hangings were inspired by an old Welsh Flannel quilt, which has been used for almost 80 years by the eleventh and last child of its maker Mrs Swancote Jones. My contemporary interpretation uses the same colours in dyed cotton and experiments with creating stripes in different ways. In The Eleventh Child, the triangular shapes represent each of the eleven children. Pieced and machine quilted. Works were completed for the exhibition 'Reflections' at The Minerva Centre, Llanidloes.
