The Morning Star

This quilt is a free interpretation of a Morris dance called 'The Morning Star'. The tune played for this dance is a traditional tune and is also called 'The Morning Star' and the written notes form an integral part of the piece of work. The fabrics (natural scoured cotton) have been home dyed using Procion dyes and 'pieced' to form a whole cloth. Shapes are applied using bondaweb and held in place with machine quilting. Some areas are coloured with Markal Paintstiks and printing for additional emphasis. The work is finished with machine quilting and a bound edge.
