Summer 2006
This has been a very busy time for with a number of different projects
on the go. The most exciting one is that I have had planning permission
approval for a new studio space, adjacent to my house. This will mean
being able to run courses and exhibitions from home, so I will need you
to register your interest by email. I am not expecting it to be up and
running until next year, which means you have plenty of time to tell
me the sort of courses and workshops that you would like me to run. So
please let me know.
The exhibiting group SIX is busy working on their next touring exhibition, ‘Six
Stories’. Catherine Nicholls from Vancouver will be our guest member
for this tour. We have already completed new two pieces each, which will
be previewed at Patchwork and Quilt Expo in Lyon, France in June 2006.
We will then be exhibiting our work for a month November/December 2006
at the Assembly Rooms, Ludlow, with workshops, a meet the artist afternoon
and a day of lectures. In the New Year our work will be touring to the
States and Vancouver, returning to further UK venues. Please see our
website for further details as they become available. www.sixart.co.uk
I am currently getting work ready for a London exhibition and this time
it will be mainly paintings as well as some textile pieces. The exhibition
is the work of 11 artists who meet weekly at the studio of Cecily Sash
in Presteigne. The exhibition at The Millinery Works, Islington will
really be worth a visit, particularly if you enjoy looking at paintings.
If you do make the preview, please come and say hello to me. Details
can be found on the Future Exhibition page.
Teaching is playing a dominant role at the moment with students getting
ready for their City and Guilds exhibition at Westhope College. This
takes place at Westhope College, Craven arms, Shropshire on Saturday
8th July and Sunday 9th July 2006. There will also be a craft fair in
the nearby village hall, which proved very successful last year. All
in all a good day out.
In addition I will be teaching a 3-day school residency and this year
I am one of the Practical Study group tutors teaching a week-long Summer
school at Harper Adams, Shropshire.
You can see why I am looking forward to my family holiday in Italy this
August, but believe it or not I have been asked and agreed to teach a
workshop while out there!
Hope you all have a good summer holiday.
