NEWS FROM MOOR HALL STUDIO AND ELSEWHERE

The Drawing and Colour course with Cecily Sash resulted in some lovely work being produced. It was great being able to spend a whole day with a lovely group of students including my dear old friends, Linda and Laura Kemshall......less of the old I hear them say!!!! I hope you all enjoyed your experience with Cecily.

South East Region of the Embroiderers Guild
Summer School 2010 - May 21st-23rd.

I had a brilliant weekend at Earnley Concourse Nr Chichester and had a great time with my group of students. I was thrilled with the work that was produced and only sorry that I didn't have my camera with me. I did take some images on my phone, but now need someone to show me how to download them onto my computer!!!!

So thanks to the organisers but particularly to my great group of students.

NEW COURSES AT MOOR HALL STUDIO

ELEMENTAL DRAWING - Pip Woolf
This will be Pip's first time teaching at Moor Hall Studio and I am very excited by the challenging course that she will be offering.

Wednesday 30th June 2010
10.00am - 4.00pm
£45 for the day.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
A day of drawing that holds the elemental in mind and uses all four of the dictionary definitions below, to explore making marks in relation to place.

el.e.men.tal adj.

1.basic and essential

2.relating to or caused by powerful natural forces

3.reduced to, or reducing something to, a stark simplicity

4.relating to the chemical elements, or to the elements of earth, air fire and water that were once supposed to be the basic units of matter

Elemental

We will be using the inside and outside of the studio and will be working with different media relating to the elements e.g. earth pigments, plant colours, water, fire and air. It will be a day to explore your drawing whatever level of expertise you have, using a number of exercises.

We will first explore the beautiful location and environment of Moor Hall Farmhouse as the starting point. By using different sensory inputs to drawing, we will gradually find ways to gather more information about whatever focus attracts us. We will experiment with different media including working with water, fire, earth and wind before revisiting our first interest with a new set of tools.

By the end of the workshop you will have created a day's diary of your own experience of what, for you, is elemental at Moor Hall.

PAINTING WORKSHOPS - Paul Priestley

THIS COURSE IS ALREADY TAKING BOOKINGS SO DON'T MISS OUT

Paul has now finished teaching all his painting courses, but I am delighted that he is planning to tempt you with a new batch of courses when he returns in the Autumn.........

......but meanwhile I am delighted to be welcoming Paul back to teach a three-day Summer School at Moor Hall Studio in August. This will be a great opportunity for students wishing to be challenged and to learn from an inspiring teacher.

Spend three days painting and drawing in the wonderful surroundings of Moor Hall and the Shropshire Hills. With stunning landscapes, farm buildings, farm animals and the tranquillity of wide open spaces and wooded glades you cannot fail to be inspired. The course will cover sketching in the open air, line, tone, perspective, creating depth and interest in drawing as well as covering all aspects of landscape painting. Each day will provide a different challenge, whether it is painting an expansive view of the landscape, or the more intimate scene of a babbling brook in an area of woodland. The course is designed for all abilities as much of the teaching will be on an individual basis. The focus will be on acrylic and oil painting mediums, but with opportunities for working in watercolour.   The brook at Moor Hall

£150 for the full 3-day course
