While we are waiting for Spring to arrive I thought I would send you all some snowdrops from my garden. They really are in abundance this year and so beautiful. I hope they spell the start of Spring........although I suspect we may just have to be a bit more patient!!!!

Moor Hall Snowdrop

This is just going to be a brief newsletter............reminding you of the courses coming up and seeing whether some of you may still want to book. Be quick though as I don't want you to miss out.

I have just spent a fun 3 days teaching in my studio. Friday was spent with my textile students, some of whom are busy working towards their exhibition at the NEC at the end of March (see below). The weekend was spent teaching one of my on-going art groups, Moor Art 2. The weekend is always a lively occasion with food, music and laughter amidst lots of hard work. This weekend we were joined by some friends from Uganda.

MARYSIA MILEWSKI

'Crumpled Paper with Marysia'

Wednesday 30th March 2011 ~ £50 the day

You will remember that I featured Marysia in the last newsletter. This will be a very exciting workshop and her spontaneous and inventive approach will suit a great many students wishing to free up in their own work.

So join her in manipulating the paper surface: she tears it, crumples it, folds it, colours it, scrapes it and assembles it, with the resulting work revealing images and characters which detain both a strange wisdom and lots of joy.

PAUL PRIESTLEY ~ EXPLORING DRAWING

4 sessions on Saturdays

Each course is distinct, but related to the others, therefore, it would be possible for individuals to take one or two courses or all four.

26 March: How to Draw Anything: this course looks at how to construct drawings, simple ways to create complex drawings and essentially shows that it is possible, even for complete beginners to draw anything.

02 April: Exploring Line and Tone: this course looks at how we can use line and tone in a variety of ways to create wonderful drawings. There will be the opportunity to explore very imaginative and bold approaches to combining line and tonal drawing.

23 April: Imaginative Drawing: we explore abstracting drawings and mark making with all sorts of graphic media including pen and ink. Amazing combinations of both techniques and media.

14 May: Finding Your Style: How do you want to draw? Bold, loose, dramatic, academic, imaginative? This course explores a number of approaches to help you find your own vision.

However before signing off I must just tell you that I shall be doing a course with Audrey Walker at Hawkwood in Stroud this weekend. This is the Textile Study Group's AGM and I am looking forward to spending the time working with Audrey and all those wonderful textile friends. These weekends of which we have two a year, are always most productive and it is great to spend time with such a supportive group.
