20th September 2011
SORRY ~ SORRY ~ SORRY
I wasn't planning to send a newsletter just yet, but felt I must, to
apologise to everyone who has been trying to contact me during the passed
week and probably gave up in the end.
Unfortunately our phone lines were down and what so often is not understood
is that some of us country folk do not get mobile signals either where
we live, which makes it impossible to run a business. Added to which
I then discovered that my website was not working properly and then
the final straw was when the internet went down as well.
So all in all not a very good week and my humble apologies to you all.
If you were trying to get through to book on a course here is a reminder
of some of the courses that are coming up or those about to happen.........I
WOULD HATE FOR YOU TO MISS OUT ON ANYTHING.
KIM THITTICHAI ~ A new starting point
October 6th & 7th 2011 £ 100 for 2 day course
A 2 day workshop discovering and developing the redemptive qualities
of old newspapers. Create fascinating surfaces on which to print and
stitch. Using painted Bondaweb and gilding flake we will explore the
possibilities of layering textures to end up with firm pieces of work
that can be used to make boxes and vessels and demonstrate the striking
contrasts of the media. Rich/poor and matt/shiny.
Kim is guarenteed to offer you a full fun 2 day course. I suggest you
look at her website to see all the things that she is up too in this
country and abroad. Many will know Kim from the shows and those who
have been on courses with her will know just how generous she is with
her, materials, techniques and ideas.
Kim is the author of 'Hot Textiles' and 'Experimental Textiles' both
published by Batsford. She regularly travels with Creative Exhibitions
and International Craft and Hobby Fairs (ICHF) demonstrating her techniques.
This course will be informative for both the beginner and those wishing
to develop their ideas further........so book as soon as possible to
secure your place on this course.

Kim will also be giving a talk for the Marches Branch of the Embroiderers
Guild on Thursday 6th October 2011 at Community College, Bishops Castle
in the Fletcher Room. Lecture begins at 7.30pm.

DRAWING GROUPS ~ Moor Art 1 and 2
MOOR ART 1 ~ Meet on alternative Wednesdays

19th, November 2nd and 16th £ 150 for 5 sessions or £50 an

My two drawing groups held a very successful exhibition in July which
attracted a great deal of attention. I am thrilled in the progress that
students have made in their own personal development. They have demonstrated
that with continuous practise that drawing can be taught and confidence
gained in the process.
Both of these groups have places available for the new term and if
you feel that you may be interested in joining either of these groups
please get in touch. To benefit from a reduced fee the students pay for
a term in advance, but if you feel you might like to attend just for
one session initially this is also possible.
Students follow set projects, which may include detailed drawing, design
development into colour through using a variety of media. I am looking
forward to seeing the work that I set then on gardens and flowers for
their holiday homework when they return this Autumn...........no pressure
then girls!!!! Here are some of my girls working with the renowned artist
Cecily Sash which I set up as a special class for them and in preparation
for the drawing of flowers.

I LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING SOME NEW MEMBERS TO THESE GROUPS.

Ruth will also be running a couple of two day courses this Autumn,

UGANDA ~ PEARL OF AFRICA
The choirs are now here and I can hidely hide my suspense in meeting
up with my Ugandan friends again. I still have to wait until the end
of October before the Northern choir reaches Shropshire. I believe that
all is going well so far and that they are performing magnificently,
as I would expect. Do hope you get to see them.
Details of the full programmes can be found on their website. However,
please note that the calendar still needs to be added to as events are
finalised, so check with venues before setting out. I know that I have
admendments to make.
