EXHIBITIONS FROM NORTH TO SOUTH and IN THE MIDDLE

I have some  wonderfully talented friends many of whom have up and coming exhibitions, which I would like to share with you. They range from printers to painters to sculptors ~ all amazing in their own rights.
ANN CAMPBELL ~ CAROL VAUGHAN BONNY SHEPPHERD-JONES

Annie, Carol and Bonny are all good mates of mine that I met through Cecily Sash's Studio and are all excellent artists. They will be showing at H'Art this year. Do look them up if in the area.

These are Carols wonderful colourful oil paintings. She is so very expressive in the way she uses the paint.

These are the amazing works of sculptor, Ann Campbell. My friend Bonnie Garnett bought one of these and it has pride of place in her sitting room gazing down the valley.

Finally two pieces from Bonny Sheppherd-Jones, showing some fun composition of character animals all beautifully painted.

ROBERT CUNNING

Bobs work evokes a strong sense of place, whether it is the deep rural hills of South Shropshire and the Welsh Marches, or the inner cityscapes of London and New York. His paintings observe the changing architectural spaces of our cities and the seasonal changes of the countryside.

GEORGES WENGER

I met the lovely Georges and his beautiful partner Tina when I was teaching in Bavaria a couple of years ago. His print making is extraordinarily beautiful ~ just stunning. I am not sure that these images will do the work justice, but here goes.

Georges work understandably has been selected for the International Print Biennale. The Biennale was c reated by Northern Print in 2009 and showcases the broad spectrum of contemporary printmaking across the globe, through an extensive programme of exhibitions, events, activities and an international symposium, held across the North East of England. It is the only event on this scale for printmaking in the UK, and since its inception has established itself as the key event for print in the international arts calendar. In 2014, the third edition of the Biennale's Print Awards welcomed submissions from over 740 artists from 42 different countries. The International Print Biennale exhibitions across 25 venues attracted over 130,000 visitors. So good luck Georges!

 EXHIBITION OF STUDENTS WORK
Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre
Craven Arms
2nd August ~ 5th September

There is still time to see the work in this exhibition as it is on until 5th September, although it may come down on that day. So get along sooner if you can.
These are students that I tutored on Wednesdays, fortnightly and weekends, monthly.  It is mainly drawings and some paintings. Do get in touch if you are interested in either of these courses.

JUDI EVANS
Pattern Cutting for Womens Wear

Another great course with the students going home with so much information and armed with lots of personal blocks. It is never easy to take creative images of all that is happening, so hope you like this one. This is the tutor Judi, taking a break after class!!!!!

Students were busy, measuring, marking, making patterns, pinning together blocks as can be seen from these few pictures. A great course.

DRAWING THE LINE
"Drawing is putting 'a line' around an idea"
Henri Matisse

Accessible drawing methods, both traditional and experimental, will all be considered in relation to the exercises introduced, with students quickly building up inspirational boards full of ideas and design possibilities, for personal interpretation into fabric and stitch. Artist research will offer further insights into the development of ideas, with the whole course culminating in a useful portfolio of original works.

I have recently completed this new course for the TEXTILE STUDY GROUP Summer School at York University, which homes the largest man-made lake around the campus and of course the beautiful York Minster.

These were some of the results.
Some initial design exercises and developmental work

The work was very exciting and varied and we all had a most enjoyable week of working. eating and socializing.

Meanwhile back at Moor Hall after returning from York further exciting work was happening with a group returning to me for Part 2 of Personal Developments.
This is what some of the group got up to.

SO IF YOU HAVE LIKED THIS WORK DO BOOK TO DO THE COURSE AT ART VAN GO NEXT MONTH
