We have planned a further series of courses for 2011, to take place in beautiful South Shropshire. This next set of courses we hope will continue to challenge and stimulate the students by looking at familiar materials and design ideas, but in new ways, through the application of drawing, colour and design in relation to textile practice. Ruth and Bobby will continue to offer a unique shared way of teaching where students will benefit from the expert tuition from both tutors, but continue with the same body of work.
Courses take place over three days, from 10.00am to 4.00pm.

          

1 - Grids and Meshes

Using the simple unit of grids and meshes as a springboard, students will explore print, colour and stitch to create original and unexpected textile pieces. This is a lovely course for those who enjoy imaginative exploration of stitched textile techniques.

21 - 23 March 2011

2 - Working with a Broken Line

This adventurous course, challenges perceptions of using the ‘broken line’. Students will experience and consider the direct and indirect use of line through mark-making, resists, print and stitch techniques onto paper and fabric.

15 - 17 April 2011

3 - Fabric, Mark and Colour

Exploring surface imagery and organic marks using mixed media, black, white and colour, combined with print and stitch. These coloured cloths are then transformed into 2D and 3D resolved works.

6 - 8 May 2011

4 - Working Together Summer School

5 - Working Together Exhibition

An exhibition of textiles, paintings, drawings and sketchbooks by Ruth and Bobby. Preview and party Saturday 16 July 7.00pm - 9.00pm.
Open day Sunday 17 July 12.00 - 5.00pm.

COSTS
£165.00 for each 3-day course
Costs include tuition, some course materials and a light lunch of homemade soup and a fresh roll. Hot and cold drinks will be continually available throughout each day. Additional materials available for purchase.

The courses are based at Bobby's studio at Moor Hall, Shropshire SY7 8PH.
