So many people got in touch after the last email because of those wonderful images from Iceland. They are still all here waiting for something to happen!!!!

What I must do this time is share images from two workshops that I have done since being back from our trip over the waters. One was a design workshop at Minerva, where I currently have a retrospective exhibition and the second was using Ben Nicholson as a design source to generate ideas on paper and cloth.

Before looking at this work I need to say that my drawing groups start back in September.......the Wednesday fortnightly class on 13th September and my weekend class on 9th and 10th September. If you would to consider joining either do drop me an email at bobby@bobbybritnell.co.uk to find out more.

So first lets see what the group got up to at Minerva.
We started by working with line to generate tone in a number of ways and then moved on to texturing paper iall kinds of ways.

We

BEN NICHOLSON
I was approached earlier in the year by a group from Toronto, who wanted me to tutor them. I opened the course up to others and with 9 students we had great fun the passed two days using Ben Nicholson as our springboard. I think he would have been pleased with the results as well.

We began by doing plenty of experiments onto different paper s and my first challenge to the students was to create a related series of paper designs. I think it is clear to see the different styles in these works.

We then moved onto doing a final piece in cloth and stitch.

Well done to all the lovely ladies on these courses. What a fabulous time we all had on both.

Next month I have Matthew Harris here and Jan Beaney, so I will be back then with the work produced on those courses.
There were some interesting things to see at Festival of Quilts this year. This piece by Laura Kemshall 'In and Out of Love' was selected for Fine Art Quilt Masters shown at Festival of Quilts last week. Laura always manages to surprise us with her work.

Diana Harrison has always been a favourite artist of mine and it was lovely to see her white walled exhibition.  This was one of my favourites.

There is always so much to see at Festival and it was lovely to see Amanda Clayton back very much in the forefront with Dr Jacqueline Collin, of King's College London, with the piece they entered in the Fine Art Quilt Masters. See a live video on Amanda's facebook page Amanda J Clayton.

DON'T FORGET TO GET ALONG TO THE MINERVA ARTS CENTRE.

Bye for now
