Well it was more like an Christmas scene this morning rather than an Easter one......no sign of daffodils as yet, just a covering of snow.

Anyway I hope you all had a lovely Easter break. I did manage to colour some eggs which made a lovely display on the table, although several have already been eaten!!!

JENNIFER COLLIER
16th April ~ Paper Lampshades
£65 only to include the materials
(apart from the shade frame, which she can supply at £4 and £9 each)

I am not sure why, but this course has been tricky to fill this time, yet is is normally such a popular one for Jennifer.

What we have decided to try, is reduce it just to a one day course, to see if that may tempt people to come. This is what Jennifer says she will do:

"I will show how to make the patterns in the morning and go on to making the paper panels in the afternoon, so everyone will leave with a fully functional paper light-shade at the end of the day. I will still be able to show some of the embellishment techniques, but maybe not all, but what I will be able to do is work with the participants individually so they will be taught any specific techniques they want to use on their own shade." She continues,

"Whether they choose to make a light shade for a ceiling light or a lampshade for a lamp stand will depend on the shade they bring or choose to buy off me, but I will talk them through the logistics of this before we start and I will have fittings available to buy on the day to change the shades use as an up or down lighter."

So I do hope that some of you will now come and join us for an exciting and fulfilling day, creating  your own beautiful recycled paper lampshade using lovely vintage papers and by upcycling existing frames.

Jennifer will provide all materials but students can bring along any special maps, papers, or books that they wish to incorporate and a lampshade frame to up-cycle (panel lampshades as pictured, rather than barrel) or Jennifer will have them available to buy on the day for £4-£9. Sewing machines will also be available for students use. So just come with your packed lunch and enjoy the day.

A fabulous course which is very popular with Jennifer's students.
