THEME FOR TERM ~ Expressive Landscapes
In the Autumn Term we will be exploring the use of different media and tools in creating expressive landscape paintings. We will begin this journey in black and white using white acrylic, acrylic mediums, gesso and heavy gels combined with charcoal and graphite, my favourite combinations. Techniques will be carried out using non-conventional tools, such as scrapers, sticks, wire wool and sandpaper to create texture to the surface. We will be working on heavy weight papers, treated card and canvasses and eventually those that wish can move into colour. The importance of composition, scale, contrast, balance etc will all be explored in relation to the work of other artists. A fun course full of exploration, experimentation and trials with some gorgeous outcomes.
PLEASE NOTE:
1. The first session of the term will be a 'collage session' delivered by Andrew Douch. Details to follow.
2. This first session will also be when it is H'art week in the studio. See Exhibition Page.
3. There will be a gap of 4 weeks between 18 Oct and 15 November.
