COURSE DESCRIPTION
The idea that when making work 'there is no straight line from beginning to end but rather a combination of fragments that relate to one another’ is the basis of this workshop.
We shall use mixed media including gesso, inks, paints, with paper, fabric, stitch and ephemera.
Through experimentation, discussion and sharing individual ideas, allowing change through the process of creating, we shall find inventive and expressive ways of combining a range of materials allowing unexpected connections to emerge.
MARY SLEIGH
Mary is a member of The Textile Study Group and The Embroiderers’ Guild and works from home in Lincolnshire.
A love of materials and working by hand, the magic of transforming something mundane into something special is central to her way of working. Using mixed media together with fabric and stitch offers opportunities to reveal unexpected connections, overlaying and recording the essence of place or significant moments in time.
